Just after WWII, there were quite a few casinos that opened in the North in order to compete with France; most with nothing more than local licenses and authorizations with very little financial backup (...and without the cooperation from certain groups). Most had closed within a few months except the operation at Casino di Saint Vncent which had assumed the status of the fouth Italian casino alongside those of San Remo, Campione and Venice. Later, in the 50s, there was a short-lived casino just East of Mentone (on the Italian frontier; Borghadia) and then later in the late-60s another failed operation was to the South in Taormina.
Lots of monogrammed nacre has been found in the North, but none with accurate IDs.
