Caribbean ChipGuide Status
The programming for the Caribbean ChipGuide is done and is ready to go, although I continually make enhancements to it. Greg Susong was very generous in allowing me to copy the style and feel of the ChipGuide. Which in my humble opinion, is this best online catalog in the hobby. However the programming is all original, I just figured how to do what Greg has already done, and there are some enhancements, like being able to sort the list of chips from a casino by denomination, mold or catalog#. The biggest part of the project is data collection ... information about casinos and the chips, which includes the scans. I am starting by seeding the data bases with all the Caribbean chips in my collection, about 1,350. I have all the locations done except for the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is about 30% done. I plan to put the Carribbean ChipGuide on the internet in the next week or so. After I finish my collection, I will add the material that Terry Shaffer provided to me. After that, I will be seeking scans from everyone else. Even still, I estimate that I will not even have half of the known Caribbean chips in the catalog when it first goes online. A feature of the Caribbean ChipGuide will be to catalog any type of collectible, meaning not just chips, tokens and silver strikes, but also match book covers, ash trays, jetons, plaques, and even swizzle sticks or whatever. So watch for the Caribbean ChipGuide's Grand Opening, COMING SOON.
