The steel is going up EVERYWHERE! I have built Steel Mills, Powerhouses and Car Plants across the Country and this place has more structure than most of those. The Theatre is coming along fast. It is going to be the biggest money maker I think. We are supposed to be finished w/ it about 6 months b4 the rest of the project. That way they can get the Cirque people in for practice and rehearsals. The Conv Center, where I am mainly working is very slow. Everyone is waiting on the Ironworkers to get the structure built out and then it will go crazy. All of the Condos are coming along good. I think I heard the other day that the main Pillie Tower deck is on the 31st floor. The trim crews (guys that do the final touches on the Electrical), are only on the 7th floor, so if you look at the job and see all the windows in......there's not much behind them . One thing I learned about Vegas is, the Glaziers (glass guys) make lots of money in this town because the Casino Companies like for the glass to go in FAST and on OT. That way from the Strip it looks like the job is closer to being finished than it really is (inside trade secret, but don't tell anyone LOL).
There is already talk about Part 2 of Phase 1 which will be more high rise condos behind the NYNY where the Project Headquarters sits now. It may break ground b4 this job ends. Also, there is talk about Phase 2 which is supposed to be across the Strip where the Marriott Grand Chateau (my last job) now sits.
SO, that about wraps up my job. I walk around this site amazed at actually how BIG this place is now and how big it is going to be when it is finally finished.
As for other tidbits in Vegas:
Cosmo Condos which sits on the same site as City Center BUT isn't a part of it, is moving along. They are only up about 5 or 6 floors right now but it was a heck of a climb to get out of the hole they built to get where they are now. After the death they had this week, they are having to get back in the groove again.
The old Stardust site which is now Echelon Place is moving along good. They are moving tons of dirt on the site and huge auger trucks are digging footers for the tower. Lots of foundation work going on that can't be seen from the road, but can be seen from The Circus Circus parking garage
Wynn's Encore is topped out and is supposed to be opened this time next year.
The El Rancho site which is now home to Fountainebleau (I think I spelled that right), is also coming along now. Driving down that end of the Strip is so strange now. It doesn't even look like the same place. The Tower is about 10 or so floors up and it is supposed to be open around the time of City Center's opening.
The Venetian's Palazzo Tower is getting ready to open. Probably while we are back in Bama!
For Gene, the Palms Place Condos are topped out and they are working their way to the top on the inside.
The Luxor transformation is really close. We have not had any calls out there in a while.
The South Point Casino is building a couple new restaurants and another Tower.
The Hard Rock is supposed to do a major expansion, including a new central plant (powerhouse) and a tower or 2. I think it is still in pre-development stage right now.
Finally, the new Alliante Station is really coming along. The Casino tower is topped out and that's about all I know about that one LOL!
Planning on taking some pics this weekend, if so, stay tuned Have a great weekend!!
This may go down as one of the longest posts on the board....Well, except for some of Aaron's early ones
