The article at the link below is about the proposed "Destination Casino" that is to be built in Sumner County in south-central Kansas directly south of Wichita. The deadline for proposals was yesterday at noon and there were four of them turned in by some very heavy hitters in the gaming industry. Two of the proposals call for the casino to be built near Wellington and the other two call for it be built at the Sumner County line which is 14 miles to the north and close to Wichita.
From reading the newspaper and hearing a few people talk about it, it appears to me that the decsion concerning where to put the casino has become a political hot potato. Greg or Ron, you can tell me if I am right or full of it but the Wellington location has the potential of spurring more economic development in the area while the county line location would potentially bring in more revenue being closer to the Wichita metro area.
Cheers!
Bill
