My translation of the french is a little different. Societe Fermiere can be directly translated as "Farmer's Society". I don't think you can read "Fermiere" exclusively form the word "Societe". At least I wouldn't. In any event, I would translate the word as the plural of "Farmer", rather than the word "closed".
