Basically, they now have an auction capability. Certainly not as refined as eBay and JackPot, but a capability nonetheless.
Previously, the site allowed two methods of outright sales; rent a forum (and sell all you wanted and be the Moderator of that forum) or pay 100 virtual points (called "chips") and post a For Sale message with two restrictions (you had to post a finite quantity, and that quantity could not be too extreme). Losely tied to this "Marketplace" area was a forum for "Auction Links". A member could, providing that it was NOT their auction, post links to auctions of interest. (This was sometimes abused.)
The site also allowed for Trading, but offers to trade easily became, "OK, I have nothing to trade you, will you accept money?"
Anyway, it is now set-up with no change to the rented forums. As a seller, you pay your monthly fee and sell whatever you want (poker related). You are the Moderator of your forum and have ultimate control of that forum's content.
For everyone else, every member has been seeded with 3 points. 1 point is equal to 100 virtual chips, or $1 in PayPal funds. For a point you can post a For Sale post in the auction arena, or two "wanted-to-trade" posts. Virtual chips are earned by being a contributor to the site, i.e., writing articles, posting in forums (some forums take chips vs. giving), etc. Or, you can pay for the auction post via PayPal.
I've not tried the auction side of ChipTalk, as I just discovered it's existence upon my return from a 2 week vacation.
