I was in the Avenue a few times pre fire but no gambling as it was 1961-62 after the George Ratterman/April Flowers fiasco. I heard Ratterman died a couple weeks ago.
After they rebuilt it my wife and I spent a lot of nights there dancing. It was one of the "Hot" spots for several years. Ranged from country to rock and roll music.
We won a Limbo contest there one night. Now I'm lucky to tie my shoes.
I have several Avenue chips but not the green one.
