Good idea, Greg. My dad worked for over 20 years in the composing room at a newspaper that used hot lead to create the type that made up the newspaper every day. They would have these linotype machines and other machines designed to make headline type, and each machine had a big bar of lead hanging on a chain that slowly lowered it into a vat of liquid, melted lead. The fumes from the constantly heated lead, plus the handling of hundreds of pounds of lead type each day probably gave him a significant level of prolonged exposure, but it never lead to any lead-related health problems.
Still, it would have been interesting to know the results of a test on him during his working years.
