One of my favorite stories about the place...though it may or may not be true...is that during a repair or remodel they removed some plaster from one of the back walls...and discovered that the wall had been built using an old bedspring for reinforcement!

Another thing that you might want to check out is the Special Collections at UNLV. They have thousands of old photos that have been donated, as well as paper stuff. You can browse to your hearts content, and you can buy reprints of photos that you fall in love with.
