I did find the statement by the expert in your earlier post about 1000 of these chips on the ground to be the equivalent of a Federal Superfund Site to be nothing short of ludicrous. It's not surprising coming from someone with close ties to the EPA, but it's ludicrous none the less.
Some EPA standards are patently ridiculous, and they don't pertain to every situation. If the human body had to meet EPA standards for radioactivity, when a person died, they could not be buried or cremated because naturally occurring levels of radioactive carbon and potassium in the human body exceed EPA standards for disposal by burying or burning.
