Over the last weekend I made a less than 48-hours trip to Las Vegas to attend a formal gala with Pam at the Golden Nugget. Part of the festivities was a silent auction. Among the spa visits, Caribbean cruises, jewelry and the like was this Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman bobblehead that I just couldn't pass up. It also included a flag (from the Mayor's Office) and suddenly, I had to have it. The opening bid was $50, even though an earlier bidder wrote in $25. I went with the $50 and and when I returned later, a third bidder went to $75, perhaps thinking that bid increments were $25.

I made it $80 and decided to not go any higher and when it went to $85, I just stopped looking. But I guess my Pam knew how much I wanted it and she became the winning bidder ar $90 and I am the proud owner of this Oscar Goodman booblehead!

I will have to get it displayed with my signed, $5, Four Queens, Oscar Goodman LE.

The gala was rather interesting in that several dignitaries were present. A Nevada State Representative (to the US House of Representatives), a Nevada State Supreme Court Justice and while his attendance was not announced, Sheldon Adelson was at the table next to ours!
