Gamblers General used to sell fantasy chips with "Dillingers" on them.
A club member buys them for re-sale on his website.
Someone in the Dillinger family sees them and calls his lawyer.
Lawyer writes to club member and says the Dillinger family has 'intellectual property rights' over anything bearing Dillingers name and he is going to sue the club member $hitless. Club member responds by proving where he bought the chips. Lawyer could not care less and papers are served.
I call GGS out of curiosity and they have no knowledge of a Dillinger family even existing, let alone owning any rights to these chips which GGS themselves designed.
Club member settles with Dillinger family.
Cease and desist order is served on GGS and the chips are immediately withdrawn.
What is your take on that?
