When I sit back and think about it the only reason I haven't joined yet is because I'm lazy.

I have clicked the link to join a number of times over the past 2 or 3 years. Initially I decided not to join because of the higher cost for those of us that live overseas (I'm from Australia). An added cost is the $8 commission payable on US$ money orders. I realise that is because of the higher cost of postage for the magazine, which is justified, but in all honesty I have very little interest in the magazine, as I really only collect $1 chips and Vegas poker room chips.

Money is not quite such a big issue anymore but I still haven't made it to the post office. If I could join (and pay) online I'd do it today.

Suggestions which may encourage membership would be to offer a cheaper fee for those that don't want to be sent the magazine. Perhaps make it available online as an option.

I must admit I am also sometimes discouraged by the political bickering and name calling that takes place from time to time. Collectors are generally passionate focused people, so I am not totally surprised by this, but it is a real turn off. I know I have no right to expect people to act in a certain way, and I don't claim to understand the issues being fought over (as I tend not to read those posts and replies) so please don't take this comment the wrong way. It is not a criticism of how people act, I just mention it because it is a deterrent for me.

That is only a minor issue though. Members (and non members)on this board have helped me enormously over the years, especially in the last 12 months or so when I started really ramping up my $1 Las Vegas collection. I have been made to feel really welcome. Special thanks to Greg Susong for this wonderful forum. Greg Cagle for his wonderful forum. Jim Follis for his advice early on. And in no particular order, those they have fed my addiction including James Campiglia, Doug Boyd, John Chamberlain, Les Lawrence, Steve Schultz, Joel Brixius, Andy Hughes, Dwight Harouff, Ricky Pushkin, David Spargg and anyone who is willing to ship to Australia.
