The casino was located at the far end of the shopping mall on the left side of the café; only one large room, and the only Privé was a roped-off area by the bay window in the rear. It was the week just after the race and before Cannnes Film ('89). Jane Fonda was in town (she stayed at the Edan up the road)... and all the tabloids had her poolside bare-breasted picture on the cover. The stuffy joint across the Place du Casino had a slots-only room just off the reception loaded with 1Ffr machines. Jimmy's had a wheel that opened late-nite, and most of the action in town was at the (ground floor) American Salon at Loews. After a 3-nite stay my wife and I walked away up $40...
