Maybe, when a used and unpolished, slightly off color chip is seen at a show or on eBay and compared with another example that's also slightly worn and has been cleaned to look like it's new, that person viewing that chip might wonder; gee, I wonder what else the owner of that chip does to other chips that he's trying to sell... does he use wet sandpaper on them; does he file the nicks; does he reset popped inlays; does he soften them in order to remove warps? Maybe they feel it's a prize and a good catch for being able to find an example that doesn't raise any doubt.
Personally, if I had to decide which chip to buy; one that was worn, faded and off color... or the same chip that was worn and clean looking... I would go with the uncleaned example.... and call it a prize. Just my opinion...
