George,I guess that there are different ways to showboat.I do not mind celebration of any kind.I do not mind trashtalking at all if you can back it up....I do not even mind the "touchdown dances"...they are entertaining to me and many fans HOWEVER.....I do not like it when a person rubs it in another player's face if they have one upped them. I believe in respect of another player or team in the majority of circumstances,BUT...there are times when a bit of showboating can act as a spark to a team or individual especially if a game is still in reach of winning especially if that showboating happens to put the other team "on tilt" to use a poker term.
Are you telling me that in all your years of life that you have never rubbed someones nose the wrong way if you have beaten them in ANY type of game you have played ever? Even in a friendly in your face game of cards with the family or any sporting event at all?
What I find offensive is what Ramirez did.It was a "look at me I am wonderful" move. The team suffers and yet he is so pleased with himself because he got a hit. There was no spark there. It was just ME ME.
I have played hockey, lacrosse and baseball my whole life and to be honest...there is a time for the showboat move, and I have used it at times, but only if it sparked my team, never if the game was out of reach. If we had a primadonna ever on one of our teams who performed the way he did,I know for a fact that we would have been on his case big time.
