This item (#9) states:
"To furnish requested advice to the best of my ability and knowledge, and not to take advantage of superior knowledge on my part to the disadvantage of a less knowledgeable collector."
Now I am not saything that this seller intentionally did anything wrong, but I am pointing out that if he does know about the find, he would be intentionally misleading less knowledgeable collectors and therefore in my opinion breaking the code of ethics.
I understand commerce and the laws of supply and demand. However when someone has knowledge of a find yet still quotes old guide books which are in the sellers favor, that is just plain wrong.
Do I expect activity like this to cease on ? Absolutely not. However I dont expect a club member to do this, especially when making note in an auction that he is a club member (Inferring trust).
Once again, I am NOT claiming that is what this member is doing. I am just pointing out the potential for misuse of information.
Thanks,
Doug
