LAS VEGAS (AP) - Harrah's Las Vegas has closed about 600 of its hotel rooms and moved guests to other company properties in what executives say is a voluntary step to allow safety inspections.
Harrah's Entertainment officials say they're reviewing whether remodeling was done with proper permits.
They say top Clark County officials were notified of the move yesterday -- when guests were ushered out of up to 20% of the Strip hotel's 3,000 rooms.
Harrah's becomes the second company property to close rooms.
Similar steps were taken at the Rio over the weekend.
