But, we were just quoting what it reads on the medallion: "Grand Opening June 1976".

The picture of the other side of the medallion is below. That's what it reads on the reverse side.

Maybe they were talking about the hotel tower???

Anyway, we couldn't find out much about this medallion, so we just wrote what it says on the medallion.
