You are absolutely correct about stealing bandwidth and there is a certain chipper that everyone knows that did something about it when it happened to him. 
This chipper discovered that another seller on eBay was using his chip image AND was using the exact same image that was stored on his web space without permission. Our chipper friend replaced the image of the chip on his web space with another image that I would say would be rather offensive to the normal person. The offending seller cancelled that auction and i am guessing he probably didn't do it again.
