the nice thing about the Epson 4490 is that it can digitize your old regular film negatives. I haven't done any yet, but that's one of the reasons i picked it. It also has the "Ice" technology. My scans are done with the epson ICE software that comes with the scanner. You can adjust the color, contrast, brightness, tinting etc on each scan.

Ive been really pleased with it.

I've also heard that even the cheapie epsons make excellent scans too.
