'daft' isn't Canadian in the strict sense - it's a Scottish expression. Both my Scots parents use it and I used it when I lived in Scotland as a child. There are lots o' Scots up here in the Great White North so it is sometimes still heard here. It means "nuts" but don't take my word for it, here's what Answers.com says:
