In the original report, the government defined 4 types of casino - small, medium, large and super.
Only difference between large and super was that super had a hotel/resort attached. The others are all stand alone.
The first 'large' casino - The Isle at Coventry, opened several months back. It has 50 table games, about the same I suspect, as the Palms for example. I doubt whether the 250,000 problem gamblers care whether the casino has a hotel if it has 50 table games
4 further casinos of the same size are already approved.
Not a fair contrast with Vegas I accept, but compared to the rest of the US:
Id venture that 90% of UK inhabitants live within 20 miles of a casino. I have 2 within 20 miles, and probably 30 within 30 miles, and I live in the country.
