Bob; For the same reasons that segregated smoking and non-smoking areas were done away with in restaurants, including Las Vegas.
I don't know about any other state ... but the regulation here in New Jersey was passed to protect the workplace statewide ... except for casinos.
Well, the Atlantic City Council took the NJ state legislation in Trenton one step further and is now INCLUDING ALL casino workers, not just those who work in restaurants and bars, but to include those who work on casino floors including dealers, janitors, slot attendants, maintenance workers, cocktail waitresses, pit bosses, security, promotions booth, etc., many of whom showed up at A.C. town council meetings begging for protection of their health concerns as well as other workers in town and across the state.
As for myself, I am not personally bothered by the smoke, although Brenda has zero tolerance for it. She gets very sick from it. My only complaint is that my clothing and my hair reek of tobacco smoke when I leave most casinos smoking areas. If someone deliberately sprayed me with such a foul-smelling substance, I could probably file an assault charge against them.
