There were a few other illegal clubs in the area that I know of: 24845 Gratiot Avenue, 20715 Van Dyke, 21 West Elizabeth and the Heidelberg Hotel in St. Claire. 21 West Elizabeth is right in the city, but the rest are all in Macomb County, due north of Wayne County (where Detroit is located) and is bordered on the east side by waterways that are across from Canada... Hence, Macomb County was a hot bed of activity during Prohibition.

Chesterfield Township is pretty far north in Macomb County, but it is right up on the water.

However, its also about 30 miles from the city, and I would have expected it to be pretty rural during the 30's and 40's...
