NCR! Pics for today. San Francisco sites! grin

This is a little off my usual pic subject.

WARNING!!!!: There are NO Vegas pics in this post (ok maybe 1)! If this offends anyone, please hit your back browser button now. grin

Gina has wanted to go to SF since we hit the West side of the country. We finally went over Labor Day and I must admit, it was beautiful. The sites and the architecture was awesome. Being from the South, we have never had the opportunity to have clam chowder. We finally ate our first bowl of clam chowder in a sourdough bowl grin. It was very good.

We stayed right off Union Square at JW Marriott. Nice room. $300 a nite PLUS I had to pay $51 a day to park at the hotel. Parking is outrageous everywhere there. We rode the trolley a lot.

All in all it was a very fun trip that everyone should take at least once in their life. Now for the pics............

DAY 1:

This is what the Golden Gate Bridge looked like. I wasn't very impressed grin

This is a display of the cable that is strung across the bridge. It was huge! If you can't read the sign on the cable, it's stats are:
Main Span: 4,200 ft.
Length of one cable: 7650 ft.
Diameter of one cable: 36-3/8 inches
Wires in each cable: 27,572
Total wire used: 80,000 miles
Weight of cables: 24,500 Tons

That is impressive! Oh the Craftsmanship!!

When you see the trolleys, you can't help but sing the "Rice-A-Roni" song vbg

Next is Fishermans Wharf. Very neat place. Lots to do and see. They have a lot of boat tours that will take you under the GGB and out to Alcatraz. We were short on time, so we didn't make any boat trips.

Here is Alcatraz..

This is Pier 39 at the Wharf. These sea lions are regulars here. Just sunning and barking LOL!

This is Ghiradelli's Chocolate Factory. Ummmm good stuff there.

Just a pretty shot of a boat there at sunset

DAY 2:

Did someone say breakfast???

Back on the trolley!

2 of many beautiful Churches!

What a beautiful view!

This is the famous Lombard Street. It is the curviest (is that a word) road in SF. Very cool!

Chinatown...

Recognize this view? This is the most photographed homes in SF. It is the "Full House" house. It is Alamo Park. Great park and beautiful homes everywhere!

Small shot of the SF City Hall. What a building! We talked to a security guard there and he told us that this dome was made to look just like the dome at the Vatican in Rome..... Any rebuttal?? It was a beautiful place none the less!

Did the fog finally lift??? You bet your bippie it did! What a view. This is a great spot to see the city, Alcatraz, and the GGB. Leaving SF on the GGB take the first exit (can't remember the name of the road) and go wayyyyyy up to the top of a hill. Lots of people riding bikes (for some reason LOL). The best place in town!!

And finally, a lighthouse on the ocean.

That's it. Well, not really. I think we took about 800 pics! What did we do b4 the digital cameras came along! I know, spent a fortune on getting pics developed!
