Some fond memories of Pete's...long time ago got to see George Strait and Lacy J. Dalton for the price of a steak and a couple drinks...My ex-wife got falling down drunk with Lacy playing slots and blackjack. The two woke me up and we ended up having Tequila out of the bottle at the end of my bed as the sunrise came. Then breakfast in somewhat of a fog. Eddie Bourne was headed home, said to stop by in the evening. Man o Man..Eddie Bourne was managing evenings and comped it all. Guess Al Huber still is going and deaf as a post...Built himself a new jillion dollar house south of town. Really Jackpots big benefactor. Piersanti, who knows...Still good stuff in a small town where they didn't even know where the stateline was when they started. Hard scrabble in the frigging middle of nowhere. Hell, even Tex and George Cannon drifted up there and gave it a try...not sure what happened after that. Then you had Ray and Ruth that tried it out on their property the Stardust.
Big Hearted Dan and then Diamond Jim's...An amazing little $hithole town. For trivia I am pretty sure the Pair-O-Dice was the first...Didn't even have a town name just said on the ashtray, "Highway 93 Idaho-Nevada Line."
It had to have been fun, maybe still is...I can still remember how bad a couple of those places were.
I have lots of Jackpot pics if anyone is interested.
Party on,
Mark
