The International chip is a cracker... the reason why is that this was part of the fifth release 1987 run... issued just 3 months before the casino closed.
Although open from 1971 until 1987, the International owned at various times as an independent, by the Coral Group & finally by Lohnro was always one of London's elite Clubs... so very few chips ever turn up. The casino sprung up using the licence & premises of the Mafia run & George Raft fronted Colony Club - closed down by the UK government. The first issue chips were Greek key with white decal centres (all very rare) then the low values - 25p & 50p were issued in Jockey (1977 issue) & Scroll (1981) molds. The with a change to the minimums the 25p became obsolete... so the 50p became the low value chip and there were 2 further orders... (1984) plain mold & the 1987 run - as in the ebay sale. As to the value - I would have bid $150 if I hadn't been away... because these gems never turn up... and I need it in my set?#?!!
Below are scans of the 2nd, 3rd & 4th release issues. UK chips are a small market, but real gems always command high values.
