Twenty years ago I hawked the Rolex and a Texas-shaped ring to buy a trailer. I loaded everything I owned into the bed of my pickup and the trailer and drove to Las Vegas with a plan. I would spend one year here and learn how to deal, then move to Tahoe for a year to get in some good snow skiing. Then I would deal on a cruise ship for a year and see the world! After that, it was back to Texas to finish my degree. Twenty years later and I never made it to Reno. I did finish my degree, though! Obviously, I like Las Vegas!
I drove into town with less than $500 in cash and without a place to stay. I found an apartment near UNLV (just a stone's throw from Tommy's BBQ and the Elbow Room) that day and sold the trailer later that week to pay for dealer's school. I started dealing and by the end of 1987, I got my jewelry out of hawk.
It's been a great twenty years!
If you would like a chip and didn't get one at the convention, send me an email and I'll mail you one. This is the artwork, I haven't had time to scan the actual chip - maybe tomorrow!
