Looks like it is finally going to happen. Right in the middle of all the traffic problems now LOL! Looks to me like it will be built on the vacant property where George Clooney was "supposed" to build his Casino (across from Ellis Island on Koval). Here is a pic of the property from The Marriott I am working on now. The land, I think, would be the vacant property to the left of all the trailers. They use that land for storage of trailers and crates when they have a large Convention in town (like the MAGIC) coming up in a week or 2. I don't remember what casino use to be on that site but I'm sure someone will Looks like MORE work in Vegas. WOOOOOOOOO!!
Harrah's partners to build sports/entertainment arena in Las Vegas

Harrah's Entertainment announced a partnership Wednesday with AEG to build the first professional sports and entertainment arena in Las Vegas.
The 20,000 seat, $500 million arena is privately funded and will not cost taxpayers a dime, according to Harrah's. It's set to break ground in June 2008 on the 9.5 acres of vacant land behind Bally's casino.
AEG says they are talking to both the NHL and NBA, but don't have a professional sports team lined up yet. But they say with the 40 million people that visit Las Vegas every year, they're really not concerned about that detail.
"Not only will music events do very well, not only will sporting events do very well, but not one of the leagues if not both will either move a team here or create an expansion opportunity for Las Vegas," AEG's CEO Tim Leiweke said.
The project is scheduled to open in September, 2010. This will be the seventh arena project owned and operated by AEG. The company says it plans to recoup its half a billion dollar investment in this arena by selling naming rights, suites, and premium seats.
