There are some de-cancellers that try to make it look like a new chip by abrading the center inlay surface, and in some cases, applying a new surface. I don't believe just removing the foil creates a confusion factor to collectors. Also, if anyone wants to make it truly look uncancelled, they can easily start with a cancelled chips with the foil present; the acetone treatment doesn't give them any particular benefit. The abrasion treatment is much more difficult than the solvent treatment; I've never done one, but would speculate it takes 30 minutes to an hour to do it right.
