That is true.
But:
I have spoke with MANY collectors that did business with Borland at his store.
Without a doubt, all say Borland did NOT tell them the NV molds were real chips. He had a huge mail order business in home play chips. He sold some of the NV molds to CA card rooms. The Centerfold Poker Room chips for sure were used in a CA card room.
BTW his Blue Book sells in the $200 range today.
I am not making excuses for Borland, just stating what I've learned about the man.
"the Yellow Card Room chip on the board. I asked a simple question, is it real or a Borland. I think everyone that answered said REAL! I'm sure it's in the archives somewhere"
I did not reply to that thread, although I suspected they were Borlands. I usually don't in those queeries unless I am 100% sure. Last week after the convention, we got the proof they were Borlands. It helps to see them up close.
Yes the H&C's are real IMO.
Borland attained access to Paul Endy in 1990 or so thru a very influential LV mover and shaker but all we can prove is he bought overruns. We know of no H&C's actually made for Borland. The SS was a licensed casino, they had to have had chips.
