Further comparison

Ive tried to explain this before but no-one seemed to get it grin
Seems that Burt Co did not make many chips with 1/2" inserts anyway, before Blanchard bought them, but I found a couple.

Ive cropped the inserts out only, as their shape is the only thing relevant here.
On the left, 1/2" inserts of two chips made by Burt Co close to the 1978 date of the Silver Star's existence.
On the right, at top - the Silver Star Nevada Mold chips.
On the right, at bottom, two Borland Commemoratives (same as the SS)

ASM changed the inserts between 1988 and 1992, as far as I know to reduce costs. Borland was by far Jim Blanchard's biggest customer and he was prolific. He didnt care what chips he got - he just wanted them fast. He had Jim tied down to a 38c a chip price, in which there was very little profit, so Jim had to find ways to lower the production cost.
Given a few FACTS:
Bud Jones stopped producing chips on the mold in 1980.
The physical mold never moved from the Burt Co/ASM premises from 1965 to 2003.
Borland bought the rights to the mold from the BJ estate so no one else could ever have used it in between.

For those who still dont see the difference: Burt Co/ASM chips made prior to the change have 1/2" inserts in a convex shape ie the two longest sides of the insert are not parallel to each other. The later inserts have the longer sides parallel to each other.

Patrick, as the scientist, maybe you can explain it better grin
What more proof can anyone want?
