Can’t really say why I stop at Wells NV. every time I go through. Guess I just remember the first time I stopped at this town. Had a load of phos acid aboard out of Simplot that was going to San Pablo. Never took this route before and was actually headed to Truck Inn in Fernley for fuel and food but my hours ran out in Wells. Parked at Lucky J and rigged a bunk on the seats. The books say there was live gaming inside but I didn’t know how then so I just went to sleep. Needed my rest, I was going down Donner Pass the next day at 78,000 pounds. Never have taken any pictures of the J. It’s one of the ubiquitous Flying J’s now and I’m not a big fan of them. Looks like the other hundred truck stops I’ve made and I never thought anyone would be interested, maybe next time. I’ve posted quite a few pictures of Wells in the past but got a few new ones this time. Checked out the 4-Way of course, same chips as ever.
Wanted to photo the Old West Inn this trip. Kinda like the chips. Guess what? If you walk over to right quarter angle, you’ll see…
…the Pequop Hotel. Neat! Don’t worry about some of the addresses you may find, Fuller gives us the real poop in his Index.
Took a look at Front Street again. The Town Paint Brigade appearently ran out of steam and quit defacing the facings. Got enough pics of Johnny’s/Eagle Club but upgraded my image of the BullsHead sign.
The Ranchouse, Chinatown Casino, and the El Rancho Hotel are still standing there empty. Like I always think, the Building Fund dollars would go farther in Wells! Check out the outstanding article on Wells in the Summer 2004 CCTN.
