He dug it out of his closet and brought it back this afternoon to show me. He explained that a few years ago, he had been replacing a heater in an old house and vacuuming up dirt and debris in the heater closet when he found the chip. His boss back then told him to keep it since it was "probably worthless" since the Desert Inn was closed.
Today, he had done some checking while home at lunch and was already clued into the fact that the chip might be worth something, and was hoping I would make an offer. I made him copies of both of the guides and told him I'd help him find a buyer. I scanned the chip and posted a message seeking offers on the board, but long story somewhat shorter, he said he would sell it to me for my extremely modest offer instead of waiting for a higher offer.
