I had a machine that did not register all the coins in put in at the Venetian this week. I called over a slot attendant and asked him to watch the machine and call for a supervisor to make up the lost coin. I moved to the other side of the bank of machines and began playing a different machine. In about 5 minutes I heard someone cashing out my $1000 (less $25). I looked around to see if the attendant was racking up my chips and saw a stranger standing at the machine with his hand in the hopper. I asked if he worked for the casino and when he said no, I made some noise... the attendant had left the machine! He showed up quickly and took over the dispute, pointing out to the troller that cashing out someone else's tokens is theft. The player mumbled something in a foreign accent and left. I got back all my coins, but registered my dissatisfaction with the attendant (and he got no tip on my next hand-pay!).

Wonder if this was the pick-pocket from the Riviera?
