Yes, he was quite a fighter. As a kid growing up in new york, I used to listen to his fights on the radio and read about him in the paper. My father really liked him and used to follow his exploits. As was the case in those days, when he hung up the gloves, his hands were bereft of any $$$ and he died with little or no assets.
