FIRST PART

THE TRIAL CHIP STAMP STORY

I recently purchased a batch of chips that had purportedly been used in a home game and in fact came in a traveling case. Upon examination the chips proved to be way more than that!

The ARROWDIE chips (MUSTARD COLOR) proved to possibly be TRIAL STAMP chips for a variety of casinos. I have examined them and found that the there are chips from the LAS VEGAS CLUB, SILVER PALACE, GOLD STRIKE INN, MIZPAH HOTEL, OVERLAND, FRONTIER and LUCKY NEVADA CLUB. I don’t believe these chips ever saw the inside of their respectively named casinos

1. Twenty three are actually stamped thusly:

All of them are blank on the other side. There does not appear to ever have been GOLD FOIL on them, although they have been used they retain a good amount of CROSS HATCHING but no OBSERVABLE gold foil which leads me to believe they never had it! After consulting with several of our recognized authorities the conclusion is that these chips were either TRIAL CHIPS to determine the depth of the STAMPING, actual Las Vegas Club Pan Chips converted to some sort of ROULETTE chips with the large “A”
or cancelled chips. The possibility exists that these chips NEVER saw the inside of the Las Vegas Club!

2. A significant number of the ARROWDIE MUSTARD chips have nothing on them except the large “A”, which one person thought might be an F/A. I don’t see that possibility!

3. Four are actually stamped thusly:

LAS VEGAS CLUB

Stamped on both other sides!

4. Two are actually stamped thusly:

Hard to read, BUT these have hot stamp gold in them!

5. Three of the MUSTARD COLOR chips are actually HCCJ chips for sure and carry this information:

6. I also got a RED few chips with

on them, both sides!

I have been told that:

A. Pat Sullivan is deceased!

B. That he was largely responsible for the breakup of Bill Christy and Bud Jones, he apparently wanted to continue to make some funny stuff and Bud Jones did not. He caused the postal authorities to raid the LV office and Bud Jones was very unhappy (the expert actually said, “went ballistic”) about that!

7. I also found RED chips with

on the other side and I have been advised these may be from the Valley Social Club in California!

8. I also found two RED chips with

on BOTH sides!

9. I also have found RED chips in the HCCJ mold from the FRONTIER CLUB, from the OVERLAND HOTEL and from the MIZPAH HOTEL

10. I also received a goody number of MALTESE CROSS chips that have no ID but may have come from the Arrowhead Inn in Ohio, although there is some doubt as no records of plain molds have been found for that place!

The RED chips are most certainly TRIAL STAMP chips, seem to weigh considerably less than the ARROWDIE MUSTARDS, the BLUE JGMs or the MALTESE CROSS chips

11. Lastly I received over 100 NEAR PERFECT blue HHR chips with the letters JGM with gorgeous almost perfectly intact gold hot stamp!

OOPS! Forgot to mention the 28 chips that are cancelled with the INDIAN CHIEF for which I have no clue!

Many of the chips are cancelled with an INDIAN CHIEFS bonnet and face!

It is exactly the same as the INDIAN CHIEF from the HUMBOLDT CASINO!!

I have listed MANY of them with a BUY IT NOW (and some quantity limitations), at great prices as we will probably NEVER know exactly what they were used for and where they came from. One my experts believes they were washed (NO WARPING AT ALL, THEY ACTUALLY, MANY OF THEM, DO NOT LOOK LIKE THEY WERE EVER USED!), a long time ago and that is why most of them have no hot stamping left! It is all up to the buyer to desire or NOT!

ONENEVADADOLLAR IS PLEASED TO OFFER WHAT WE CONSIDER A UNIQUE, ONE OF A KIND, “FLOOR SWEEPING” CHIP. THIS IS THE LAST GROUP WE WILL OFFER. WE HAVE A NUMBER FOR WHICH THE CASINO IS TOTALLY UNIDENTIFIABLE AND A NUMBER OF B. C. WILLS TRI HEAVY WEIGHT SAMPLE CHIPS! THOSE CAN’T AND WONT BE SOLD!

THESE CHIPS ARE WHAT REMAINS OF THE B.C. WILLS COMPANY. THEY ARE NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. THEY HAD OFFICES IN DETROIT, RENO AND LAS VEGAS. THEY MANUFACTURED CASINO EQUIPMENT AND MADE CHIPS FOR CASINOS, LEGAL AND OTHERWISE. THE PURCHASERS OF THE COMPANY’S BUILDING DESTROYED THE RECORDS WHERE B. C WILLS EXISTED. THE COMPANY WENT OUT OF EXISTENCE IN THE 1970’S.

THERE WERE 47 CHIPS IN THE COLLECTION THAT WE PURCHASED. EACH A DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT “FLOOR SWEEPING” CHIP FROM THE OTHER.
DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS THESE CHIPS WERE USED TO TEST DIES AND COLORS. THEY WERE MEANT TO BE TOSSED AWAY BUT WERE TAKEN, APPARENTLY BY EMPLOYEES FOR HOME USE?

THEY ARE LARGE KEY OR SMALL KEY.
THEY ARE ALL IN “NEW” CONDITION HAVING OBVIOUSLY NEVER MADE IT TO THE CASINO FLOOR.
MANY OF THE CHIPS HAVE MORE THAN ONE CASINO STAMPED ON THEM.
MANY HAVE MULTIPLE STAMPINGS FROM THE SAME CASINO.
MANY HAVE MULTIPLE DENOMINATIONS FROM THE MULTIPLE CASINO’S STAMPED ON THEM.

THE VALUE OF THESE CHIPS MUST PURELY BE IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER. THERE IS NO LISTING FOR THEM IN ANY CHIP BOOK NOR WILL THERE EVER BE. THEY ARE UNIQUE IN THE HISTORY OF NEVADA CHIP PRODUCTION.

WHEN WE HAVE SOLD THESE CHIPS THERE PROBABLY WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER FIND JUST LIKE THESE.
