Long time, no post! Anyhow, I've been sitting on a query from one of our readers for a while and, with the convention immiment, it's coincidentally risen to the top of my pile. As usual, I'm seeking help.
The question concerns the highest price ever paid for a casino chip. The writer quoted a figure of $75,000 which they understood had been paid for a chip at the 2005 Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors club convention. Any truth in this and if so, anyone know what the chip was? My cursory research into the topic uncovered an article in Bluff magazine, which cited a $39,000 as the highest price, paid for a 1952 $5 Sands chip.
If anyone can shed any light on this topic, I'd be most greatful and will feature it as a future Question of the Day.
Thanks, as always
