NCR, BankNote of the Day.....

Today’s note is a 1992 issue 50 Rublei from the country of Belarus. Belarus, also known as ‘White Russia’ it is bordered by Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and Lithuania and is completely landlocked. It gained its independence from Russia in 1991 following the collapse of Russia. Belarus became the main victim of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster in 1986. Fearing the contaminated rain falling on the heavily populated cities of Moscow or St. Petersburg Russian pilots seeded the rain clouds so the radioactive fallout would on Belarus instead and then officially denied it for 12 years. Belarus citizens now have an extremely high occurrence of various cancers and leukemia as a result.

The note features 'Pagonya' a defending warrior wielding sword on horseback at center and on the back a brown bear at center. The note has a generic security paper watermark with no silver thread. ENJOY!
