The other night I watched a PBS, 2-part "American Experience" Episode that dealt with the history of Las Vegas. I know this (these) episodes are a little old, but it was the first time I got to see both of them, back-to-back. Previously I had only seen the 1st one.

It was very well done. It covered all of Vegas' history from it's "Bugsy Beginnings" to it's spectacular 100th Birthday.

So in the last few minutes of the second half they show the "Vegas 100th Parade". I see them focus on a car that has my friend Pete (Big Elvis) Vallee in it. A few Dignitaries walk by. Then perched on the back of a convertible Caddy....There's my "Mom" holding some flowers and wavin' away!

My Mom used to work for Pete back when this documentary was made. I was even asked if I wanted to ride a car as one of Pete's Bodyguards, but I didn't have the money to fly out.

For those of you who don't know who Big Elvis is... Pete Vallee has been genetically determined to be Elvis' son by a percentage of 98.9%

Pete's show is very cool (and free)! I've known Pete as long as I've been chippin' now! He appears at The Barbary almost daily. If enough chippers want to see him, let me know and I'll see if I can get a section cordoned off for us.
