I had a Visa card with one, and then a year later they sent me a replacement card that didn't have the Smart Chip. Evidently some credit card companies were experimenting with doing coupons and all sorts of bonus promotions when you used the card to buy things - but the high licensing fees for using the technology doomed those sorts of things. Casinos, however, are always looking at how to cut expenses and improve the customer experience - so it's more likely they will eventually be adopted for cash handling with slots.
