My experience with business travel is within 14 days of the travel date, you're at the mercy of the airlines. That being said, there's Travelocity, Expedia & Orbitz that offer lower last minutes fares.

What about using Frequent Flyer Miles? I've done this in the past throguh Delta and they've been pretty good.
