Re: Richard 2
Its true they all had their start under Rothstien of Long Island in their younger days, after all almost everyone came through Ellis Island or jumped ship to get here, even if they eventually migrated to the mid west, but we all know they didn't like the harsh New York weather, and like Chicagos Capone had permanent mailing addresses in Florida and Vegas. They were no more N.Y.hoodlems than the mid west Cincinnatti hoods, who all had home addresses in Kentucky in the horse country and Tennesee homes in the Memphis area The only time they spent time in summers in upstate New York, was to get rich on the Track crowd, so you really can't call them New Yorkers, any more than you can label the Ohio mobssters, Ohioans because the root of some of their money came from the Big C. They would be better labaled as international Capitalists with big homes in warm climes. My cousin ,the Chief was on a first person aquaintance with alot of them when he worked in the Batista Capital of Havana Cuba as a body guard in his early days, before he came north to start a detective agency and eventually became the Chief of Police. He knew them and they knew him. To infer that the Ohio mob or the New York mob owned the Arrowhead at varios points in time is farcical at best... It would be like saying the New york Yankees are run by the Dominican Republc or other South America and Carribean nations, because so many of their star players were born there. The only real New Yorker was Lucky Luciano, who spent a great deal of time in Danamora Prison near the Canadien border, convicted of white slavery, and then they declared he wasn't a New Yorker and shipped him "home" to Italy, a place he hadn't been in years. Lansky had a permanent address in Florida from 1945 on......New York?? I think you know where I'm coming from.
