Aaron, have you tried "save" instead...
of "open"? Also, are you running IE or Netscape? I see conflicts with Netscape and Reader from time-to-time.
Also, at my work we have not, NOT! gone to Reader 8 and are warned to not use it as it is unstable (last I heard).
