This'll be my 1st convention and while I'm not a Vegas rookie, I've decided to hold off renting a car to cut back on expenses because I'm staying at the Riv. Only real non-Riv excursion planned is the Poker Tourney at the Palms and maybe a Hold'em tourney or two wherever the action happens to be at the time.

It has been a couple of years since I was last in Vegas on non-business for any length of time so I have a couple of questions for you locals:

In general, what's cab fare cost now?
Is the mono-rail a more reliable mode of transportation than a couple of years ago?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
