Re: Canada DOES have lines
I grew up in Saskatchewan and very well remeber farmers taking about lines. They still do talk about them today, my sister and her husband farm and live at the farm I grew up at.
The lines are what was originally called CORRECTION LINES from the orignal survey that was done. The lines were one mile apart and normally had a road. If they didn't have a road farmers would divide this free land between themselves. We had a highway #8 which ran north and south , our farm was on line #7 one mile East of the #8. I left Canada in 1965 so I can't speak of them still using the term line as much as they use to. I do know my Sister still does.
