We both entered the daily Hold'em tournament for $60 or $80 bucks at the Horseshoe (I can't remember what the entry fee was, but I think it was one of those two) and I was the 2nd person out, with only a ditsy blond who didn't know thing about poker beating me back to the audience on the first round. Naturally, he made the final table as the chip leader. Then, to celebrate, he started ordering drinks. Then his good play didn't last long, but he still recouped my money (I'd paid for both of us) and enough to pay for dinner at one of Paris restaurants. It was kind of like a bistro, and that may have been the name. It's an experience he will remember forever. We also went to the topless Follies Begere at the Trop, and shot machine guns. I think that was the most fun for him.
As a 21 year-old, on his first trip to Vegas, my instructions to him before the game were short and to the point. 1. Play your game - no one here knows you. 2. Don't drink. As in with many things in his life, he was selectively deaf.
