I have cousins who speak with an Irish Brogue even though they were born and raised in manhattan (don't tell anyone they are yankees fans) and so were their parents.
The word English is usually proceeded with a use of the lord's name in vain, and an invective commonly used in reference to the act of intercourse. It is followed by spitting, and suggestions of what the queen and her ****** family can do to themselves and each other (much of it is illegal or impossible). My Uncle closed a pub he owned when a Judge said he couldn't have a sign in the window that said the "English not served here, only shot", it was in gaelic, but somebody looked it up. Closing the pub may have had something to do with ties he had to a couple of less public groups.
