With Skip's For Sale post yesterday for the pair of Four Queens Pai Gow quarters, the customary (and recurring) discussions took place. As for myself, I was preparing a response/reply along the lines of "is there a difference between the Pai Gow chips, the $100 Mayor Goodman chips and the $25 King of Blackjack chips?"
However, while doing a verification of the being "approved" by Gaming, I found an interesting change to the Gaming Chip and Token Report. It seems that since last August (2006), which was the last time I verified Gaming's Approval of the Pai Gow chips, the listing has been modified.
In looking at the scan below, the top entry is how the Four Queens Pai Gow chips were listed in 2006* and the lower entry shows how they are listed now. Both have been annotated with "CANCELLED IN LIEU OF #380".
Not being familiar with Gaming's processes, I have no idea what this means. Does anyone know what the reference to "#380" means? Also, do we know if the "CANCELLED" was a determination made by the casino and when told, Gaming then changes the Report? Or, was the determination made by Gaming and they in turn modify the Report and tell the casino?
And what does it mean to be "CANCELLED"? Are the chips not redeemable at the casino as a function of being "CANCELLED"?
Anyone? Anyone?

* The actual publication date of the top entry was 2003, and is from a hardcopy that I made at that time. In August of 2006, the Four Queens Pai Gow chips came up as a topic of discussion here on TheChipBoard (precipitated by a For Sale post by Skip ) and at that time I posted a reply in the discussion that stated Gaming had Approved the Pai Gow chips. But prior to making that statement, I went to the Gaming Chip and Token Report and verified the approval. At that time (August 19, 2006) the "CANCELLED" notation was not present in the listing. This is why I state that it was changed some time between August of 2006 and now, but used a 2003 copy of the Report just to show how the entry appeared in 2006.
